I was once a diligent, though small time investor. I have an excel file created from ‘them days’. On it, I put in all the stocks that I purchased, and would update it faithfully sometimes on a daily basis. It even has graphs! Everything recalculates whenever I key in the current cost of my stocks. Should I update a poorly performing stock, it automatically will turn red.
That is diligence, no? I think it is.
So recently I dug up my little file, and to my surprise, the last time I updated was over a year ago! That was around the time that I got disoriented as most stocks went tumbling down in value
What to do? In the times that we are living in, can we afford not to be financially responsible? Switzerland is reknowned for their established banking systems, but right now there is a great deal of uncertainly. There is talk on the ground that masses are drawing out their money and putting it ‘I-don’t- know-where’ .
Well, so I gathered up my little file, dusted it alittle and updated my stocks. Last time I was there, my stocks were up in value by 68%. (a year ago, I thought that was discouraging?!) After updating I am down in my gains to 25%. This could have been worse were it not that 2 of my stocks have been consistent. The rest are all in the red!
So, realistically this is what a recession is? What should we do? Granted that my cents are meagre, I still feel that I should put them where I can safely retrieve tomorrow, hopefully with a little something on top.
And that is the hardest part! Bankelele, what to do? Yes, I am seeking financial advise.
