If only God would speak…

Many Kenyans will agree on these few points:

  • Unlike any other General Election in Kenya, the one just ended was hotly contested.
  • Rigging was done both by PNU and ODM
  • The ECK slept on their job, and by the time they woke up, Mwai Kibaki had been sworn in as the president of Kenya.
  • Some Kenyans are disatisfied and feel cheated
  • Hundreds of Kenyans have lost their lives, others maimed, and thousands displaced
  • Properties of both individuals and businesses have been looted, destroyed and burned to ashes
  • Raila Odinga cannot bear the thought of the phrase ‘not in power’
  • Mwai Kibaki defiantly sits tight and won’t burge
  • Odinga will not hear of it, won’t go to court, and believes that by organising mass rallies, he will force Kibaki out of State house.
  • Meanwhile, our economy continues on a downward trend. Farmers cannot sell their produce, hotels in the coast have laid off staff, sugarcane was burnt in the fields, need I say more?

The truth is that, many Kenyans want to carry on with their lives; take their children to school, earn a living, get treated in hospital, pay a visit to their grandmother, build a house, marry, bury their dead, give birth; and they want to do this in an environment of peace.

However, the longer the political climate in Kenya persists in uncertainty, the better chances we, the ordinary Kenyans have to reflect on what we really want from our government. Our leaders have shown us their true colours. Do they really care about Kenyans, or just about themselves?  This is the best time we have to ask ourselves, “What is it we really want for Kenya, and of our leaders”? Now that seeds of tribal hatred have been planted, what does the future hold? 2012 may seem a distance away, but it is just around the corner, what lies in store? Should we begin stocking up on machetes?

I still maintain, the tribal hatred we are experiencing was brought about by politicians as a campaign strategy. Ordinary Kenyans fell for it. We have all seen the consequences, and who continues to suffer? The ordinary Kenyan!

My call to the younger generation,  is to wake up and realize that neither Kibaki nor Odinga hold the key to Kenya’s garden of Eden. Nor the clout that sorrounds them. We can change the way Kenyan politics is conducted. We can get things done, effectively and efficiently.  But we cannot do this in the prevailing circumstances that are laden with hatred, malice and suspicision.

To the best of my knowledge, no leader has addressed the question of poverty sufficiently. Yet every politician uses that line, as their key bargaining point. Year after year, Kibera and Mathare slums continue to expand. The gap between the rich and the poor continues to widen. And what do Kenyans do, after listening to the poison breathed out by the so called leaders, we kill each other, and spoil the very enterprises that earn us income. This will lead us nowhere. When 2012 comes, the same clout, (in different outfits and alliances ofcourse) will stand-up on podiums and bemoan how poor Kenyans are and how the will implement change! Hot air, nothing else.

Just like in poetry, there is always another angle to everything. There is always a hidden meaning in every line. There is plenty that I (we?)do not know, and there is plenty I (we)have read and heard that was surprising, shocking, or plainly put, doesn’t add up.

That is why I wish God would speak, to all of us Kenyans.

    Please remember that the same knife that cut the sheep will cut the goat.
    In other words in the same way GEMA stole this election, many many elections will stolen from them.

    Where is the breakdown of presidential votes by province? The much hyped about central Kenya has the same number of registered voters as Nyanza [2 million]. Raila got 2/3s of Rift valley votes above 3 million registered. Same goes with the Coast and Western each with 1.5 million registered.

    If you have been watching the news then you should have realized that GEMA folks had a very rough time in RV, Western and Coast. I don’t even think there are any Kikuyus left in some of these places.

    ECK did not “sleep” on the job. Voting is the hard part which was done fairly well…tallying is easy.
    ECK which was handpicked by Kibaki was used as the main instrument in this fraud.

    One more thing, this is an empty victory. the presidency [head of state] is only powerful when used for evil ( corruption and stopping peaceful protest). The force good in our constitution lies with parliament

    Your call for the young generation is so EMPTY. WHERE WERE YOU WHEN WE WERE HAVING ELECTIONS? THAT WAS THE TIME FOR THIS NEW GENERATION TO STAND UP. but as we all know there is nothing there

  2. peter Says:

    One more thing. Mark my words and bookmark this page

    The next leader that will come from the ODM side(whatever the name of the party at the time, regardless of his/her age [new generation or not]) will make GEMA wish for Raila.

    i give kibaki maybe less than 2 years before his heart gives up on him.
    if you don’t already have one, use that time to get a visa

  3. mwari Says:

    @Peter, calm down…I am neither PNU nor ODM, which is not my point anyway.

    My message is, let’s use the aftermath of this election to make better choices next time.

    Your stand does not help matters the least. All I am saying is, after we’re done looting and burning, we’ll still need to pee. So, let’s brainstorm on how we are going to build a toilet!

    guys iam fifty years old and my heart bleeds for my son and daughters generation ,just like mwari says lets be above our politicians power game and build asolid foundation for future generation.
    my young friend peter i understandard the pain you re undergoing ,like many of us are.i do remmember vividly on 31 st dec when iwas doing panic buying at likoni nakumatt,i was overwhelmed by unity of all us in condemining why this time we are enemies and pawns to politicians power games.
    peter in my estate in mombasa we have formed security comitees to look in to our intrest irespective of your tribal affliations ,the bottomline being ,the challenge given by our children concern that they have lived together for ages as pals,blame game will not solve our immediate problems ,however ,let this be a lesson for future generatins to strengthen party politics instead voting on tribal afliations as fronted by our current crop of leaders god bless kenya

    We need to have another presidential election asap. Everyone is in agreement that the elections were flawed.

    With the country in disarray and the situation getting desparate, we need the help of outsiders.

    If we don’t get this right now, we will NEVER move forward as a country.

    This is one of the few commentaries that tells it like it is. Truth be told those of you who still think GEMA people are clamouring for Kibaki to remain will be shocked at the number of GEMA people who wish they were never in the spotlight the way they are today.That is why it is also wrong to see every anti-Raila person as tribalist, Raila to me represents an old fashioned ideology that has failed in every state that tried it. He has used a campaign that makes the poor think that the state can afford to provide incentives like no tax when Kenya has debt the size of I dont know what. I agree with decentralisation, but I do not agree with a ‘nanny’ state. People must be given incentives to be able to contribute to the running of services and that should come through mechanisms such as tax. Therefore Raila should instead be creating income generating policies for the people, that will allow them to prosper. I personally as a GEMA person would vote for any tribe, but the individual must identify themselves as a Kenyan and must never try the tactic of ethnic bashing. I think that goes for quite a few people too.

  8. bryjoe Says:

    mwari i really feel you on this one.you cant tell me that the 10 men who raped a woman in kisumu in the full view of people just walked from home with the same intention.they were part of the looters/aka demonstators .the demonstations are giving avenue to such people.to this end am really shocked that people like peter here and a gerald Baraza who writes http://geraldbaraza.blogspot.com can spew that kind of hate they are the same as the machette wielding indiiduals in eldoret.(someone ask himto blog responsibly)I have a workmate whom am really praying for she actually belives that the kyuks who died in her backyard (Eldoret) deserved to be killed because to quote her verbatim “walikuwa wanaringa sana na huyo kibaki wao”
    the unfortunate thing is that she actually believes what she said

    I belive that Eric wainaina had it down with “wajibu wetu ni kuishi na upendo kutoka ziwa mpaka pwani, kaskazini na kusini.

    it doesnt matter who won or who lost or who rigged better than who,people shouldn’t die in the hands of their brothers and sisters.this is very wrong.
    this week am directing my prayers who people like baraza ,peter,kibaki,Raila and the others who are killing mercilessly,they need the hand of hand of God.

    ALL KENYANS TO BARE THEIR WEAPON OF PRAYER

    ALL KENYANS ARE BEING CALLED TO AFASTING AND REPENTANCE TIME.

    THIS URGENT MESSAGE IS TO ALL KENYANS BOTH AT HOME AND IN DIASPORA.
    To be forwarded to as many Kenyans as fast as humanly possible.

    DRASTIC PROBLEMS REQUIRE DRASTIC MEASURES. WE KENYANS HAVE A VERY POTENT, POWERFUL WEAPON CALLED CORPORATE WARFARE PRAYER & FASTING. WE HAVE DONE IT BEFORE AND IT IS TIME TO DO IT AGAIN. IT IS AVAILABLE TO EVERYONE AND WHEN USED FAITHFULLY CAN BRING SOLUTIONS WITHIN A VERY SHORT TIME. IT HAS A PROVEN TRACK RECORD. IT IS ESPECIALLY EFFECTIVE WHEN SCRIPTURE IS PRAYED AND PERSONALIZED. IT IS SHARPER THAN A TWO EDGED SWORD.

    GOD SAYS:

    “IF MY PEOPLE, WHO ARE CALLED BY NAME, WILL HUMBLE THEMSELVES, AND PRAY, AND SEEK MY FACE, AND TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS; THEN I WILL HEAR FROM HEAVEN , AND WILL FORGIVE THEIR SIN, AND WILL HEAL THEIR LAND.” – II CHRONICLES 7:14

    WHY? INNOCENT BLOOD HAS BEEN SHED. THIS AFFECTS THE WHOLE NATION WITH NO EXCEPTIONS. OUR BELOVED NATION IS FULL OF STRIFE, TRIBALISM, BIASES, PREJUDICES, GREED & POWER THIRST. WE HAVE IDOLIZED LEADERS AND PUT THEM ON A PEDAL STOOL. THERE ARE POWERS OF DARKNESS AND WICKEDNESS THAT WANT TO PREVAIL. BUT IT WILL NOT HAPPEN ON OUR WATCH. ON GOD’S PEOPLE WATCH. THIS IS A CLARION CALL FOR ALL KENYANS TO BARE THEIR WEAPONS. REPENT, FAST AND PRAY.

    REPENTANCE, THANKSGIVING, PROTECTION/INTERCESSION, WARFARE NIGHT WATCH PRAYER. –

    1ST STEP

    ULTIMATE REPENTANCE – PSALMS 51

    Psalm 51
    (A psalm of David. When the prophet Nathan came to him after David had committed adultery with Bathsheba. )
    1 Have mercy on (me, Kenya ,) O God,
    according to your unfailing love;
    according to your great compassion
    blot out (my, our) transgressions.
    2 Wash away all (my, our) iniquity
    and cleanse (me, us) from my sin.
    3 For (I, we) know (my, our) transgressions,
    and (my, our) sin is always before (me, us).
    4 Against you, you only, have (I, we) sinned
    and done what is evil in your sight,
    so that you are proved right when you speak
    and justified when you judge.
    5 Surely (I, we), (was, were) sinful at birth,
    sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
    6 Surely you desire truth in the inner parts [a] ;
    you teach [b] (me, us) wisdom in the inmost place.
    7 Cleanse (me, us) with hyssop, and (I, we) will be clean;
    wash (me, us) and (I, we) will be whiter than snow.
    8 Let (me, us) hear joy and gladness;
    let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
    9 Hide your face from (my, our) sins
    and blot out all (my, our) iniquity.
    10 Create in (me, us) a pure heart, O God,
    and renew a steadfast spirit within (me, us).
    11 Do not cast (me, us) from your presence
    or take your Holy Spirit from (me, us).
    12 Restore to (me, us) the joy of your salvation
    and grant (me, us) a willing spirit, to sustain (me, us).
    13 Then (I, we) will teach transgressors your ways,
    and sinners will turn back to you.
    14 Save (me, us) from bloodguilt, O God,
    the God who saves (me, us)
    and (my, our) tongue(s) will sing of your righteousness.
    15 O Lord, open (my, us) lips,
    and (my, our) mouth(s) will declare your praise.
    16 You do not delight in sacrifice, or (I, we) would bring it;
    you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.
    17 The sacrifices of God are [c] a broken spirit;
    a broken and contrite heart,
    O God, you will not despise.
    18 In your good pleasure make Zion prosper;
    build up the walls of Jerusalem .
    19 Then there will be righteous sacrifices,
    whole burnt offerings to delight you;
    then bulls will be offered on your altar.

    We repent of all sins of unforgiveness, tribalism, greed, blood shedding, hatred, bitterness, filthy talk, tale bearing, inciting, oppression of the poor, corruption, any form of bias and prejudice, idolizing leaders, failure to honor you Lord. We forgive and release all our offenders, and any hatred we have towards leaders whom we feel are responsible for the bloodshed, we release them to you, for you say vengeance is yours. Let them be brought to their knees. May your Holy Spirit prevail O Lord.
    Let all the filthy talk be eliminated from us. Psalms 50:23b and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.

    2ND STEP

    THANKSGIVING AND PRAISE (TO PUT GOD ON THE THRONE AND REMOVE ALL WORRIED AND DOUBTS)

    PSALMS 92
    A psalm. A song.
    1 It is good to praise the LORD
    and make music to your name, O Most High,
    2 to proclaim your love in the morning
    and your faithfulness at night,
    3 to the music of the ten-stringed lyre
    and the melody of the harp.
    4 For you make me glad by your deeds, O LORD;
    I sing for joy at the works of your hands.
    5 How great are your works, O LORD,
    how profound your thoughts!
    6 The senseless man does not know,
    fools do not understand,
    7 that though the wicked spring up like grass
    and all evildoers flourish,
    they will be forever destroyed.
    8 But you, O LORD, are exalted forever.
    9 For surely your enemies, O LORD,
    surely your enemies will perish;
    all evildoers will be scattered.
    10 You have exalted my horn [a] like that of a wild ox;
    fine oils have been poured upon me.
    11 My eyes have seen the defeat of my adversaries;
    my ears have heard the rout of my wicked foes.
    12 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree,
    they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
    13 planted in the house of the LORD,
    they will flourish in the courts of our God.
    14 They will still bear fruit in old age,
    they will stay fresh and green,
    15 proclaiming, “The LORD is upright;
    he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”
    Thank you Lord and Praises to you forever more. You are our rock and fortress and we Praise you for it. Thank you that you are the captain of our battle. Thank you Lord because the weapons of our warfare are weapons of this world. But they are mighty before God. For the overthrow of strongholds, theories, arguments and every proud thing that exalts itself up against the true knowledge of God. And we lead every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ our Lord.

    3RD STEP

    THE SHIELD OF PROTECTION

    PSALMS 91
    1HE WHO [a]dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand].
    2I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust!
    3For [then] He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.
    4[Then] He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; His truth and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler.
    5You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow (the evil plots and slanders of the wicked) that flies by day,
    6Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday.
    7A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you.
    8Only a spectator shall you be [yourself inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High] as you witness the reward of the wicked.
    9Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place,(A)
    10There shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near your tent.
    11For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways [of obedience and service].
    12They shall bear you up on their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone.(B)
    13You shall tread upon the lion and adder; the young lion and the serpent shall you trample underfoot.(C)
    14Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows and understands My name [has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness--trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never].
    15He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
    16With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation.

    4TH STEP

    SHOOT THOSE PRAYER BULLETS

    TERMINATOR PRAYERS: SIMPLE, STRATEGIC, & SPECIFIC

    1. O, Lord Let you warring angel arise and cleanse our environment with your Fire in Jesus Mighty name.
    2. O, Lord send your angels to pursue our pursuers day and night in Jesus Mighty Name.
    3. O Lord cover & baptize me, my loved ones, with the Blood of Jesus Christ mixed with the liquid fire of the Holy Spirit
    4. I charge my environment with the fire of God and the Blood of Jesus Christ in the Name of Jesus
    5. I plead the Blood of Jesus against the works of wickedness in my environment in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
    2. I command the works of wickedness against my life and family to be nullified in Jesus mighty name.
    3. In the Name of Jesus Christ, I command the enemy to get his filthy finger off my life, my household and my family
    3. O, God send your warring angels to surround me, my household and family with swords of flaming fire in the name of Jesus Christ.

    4. O God terminate the authority of the wicked over Kenya in the Mighty name of Jesus Christ.
    5. Let every storm directed at my life at loved ones (insert names), directed at Kenya , be rebuked and stilled in Jesus Mighty name.

    It is a good idea to repeat a prayer point about 7 times- the number of completion, even better 21 times.

    SWIFTEST SOLUTION: DOING NIGHT WATCHES (PRAYING BETWEEN 12 MIDNIGHT – 3:00AM) These are the hours that Jesus spent in prayer before His crucifixion. A very potent and powerful time of prayer. A powerful weapon. It is available to everyone and if executed faithfully, brings the swiftest answers to prayer

    Repentance, forgiving and releasing offenders and then enter into Thanksgiving and Praise. Thanksgiving and Praise is done for a good portion of time
    (at least 10 minutes), so as to put God on the throne of our prayers and eliminate worries and doubts that render prayers ineffective.

    NOTE: IF YOU ARE IN A SITUATION WHERE AN ATTACKER(S) COMES YOUR WAY, THESE PRAYER POINTS ARE EFFECTIVE. SOME KENYANS USED THEM AND IT WORKED. THEY WERE HIJACKED AND THEY PRAYED:. O Lord, strike our attackers with confusion in the mighty Name of Jesus. They prayed it with such vigor until suddenly the attackers started arguing among themselves and left the innocent people alone who were then able to escape unharmed and with their car intact.

  10. S. Rogers Says:

    Mwari et al,

    This is in response to all that has been said about one Gerald Baraza (www.geraldbaraza.blogspot.com).

    I wish to inform you that KDPM has a basic responsibility to help strengthen and support democratic processes in Kenya and Africa . Although democracy in Kenya is a subjective concept, hard to define, arguments have been made for and against certain crucial issues. KDPM is trying hard to act as a people’s watchdog, as a gatekeeper and an instrument to disseminate necessary information, and more popularly, as a reflection of varied cultural paradigms, interests and trends. As usual, each idea, activity, event etc is interpreted differently by each individual and ethnic group in Kenya . Thus we appreciate all kinds of opinions and “facts” from all Kenyans like you. They all help to get us to the root-cause of our challenges. Then from there we work together to come up with the right prescription for the whole country.

    Thanks a lot.

    S Rogers
